Restructuring lawyers in London and Thames Valley

When you need restructuring legal services

There are various occasions when restructuring legal services are needed, but the main ones are:

  • When your company is in financial distress
  • When merging or acquiring another company
  • When making substantial changes to the company’s operations

How our restructuring lawyers can help

We have a great deal of experience in share for share exchange, subdivisions, share buy backs, demergers, and general restructuring support.

Understanding the restructuring process

The current state of the company is evaluated, to consider areas that may need improvement or change. A detailed plan must be set outlining the restructuring strategy including timeline goals and any resources needed, and this should be communicated to stakeholders.

The plan is implemented and continuously monitored to ensure progress is being made and the restructuring is achieving the desired outcomes.

“Very professional, knowledgeable and accessible lawyers.”

Restructuring and insolvency FAQs

The main difference is that a restructuring lawyer assists companies in reorganising their operations, finances or structure to improve efficiency or avoid bankruptcy, whereas a bankruptcy lawyer represents clients in bankruptcy proceedings and in managing the legal aspects of discharging or reorganising debts, or liquidating assets.

The duration of the process depends on the size of the company and the complexity of the changes, however, this can take anywhere between a few months to several years.

Failing to secure more favourable terms when negotiating with creditors and other stakeholders, violating laws and regulations leading to legal disputes, and not identifying opportunities for tax benefits or other financial aids.

We work closely with tax advisers and accounting professionals to ensure the process is completed smoothly and in line with clearance advice.
