EU Settlement Scheme Deadline – Is your company ready?

The UK government has confirmed that the rights of EU citizens living in the UK will remain the same until 30th June 2021. The Home Office has rolled out the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS/the Scheme), giving EU citizens (who started living in the UK before 31st December 2020) pre-settled status (the right to live in the UK for 5 years) or settled status (the right to remain indefinitely in the UK).

Impact on ban of recruitment of Indian Nurses to the UK

Since the launch of the Health and Care visa in August 2020, more than 20,000 individuals have been granted with a visa for the UK under this category. It has yet to be seen what the long-term impact of the pause on recruitment of nurses from India will be on the Government’s plans to ease staff shortages within the NHS.

Covid-19, red list countries, and UK visa applications

The British government has put rules in place banning travel from certain ‘red list countries.’ View the Goverment red list countries These COVID-19 measures mandate that individuals who have been in / travelled through these countries will be refused entry to the UK if in the 10 days prior to entering the UK, they have been in or travelled through one of these countries.  Despite these travel bans, UK visa applications in the work, study, and residence categories from all countries continue to be processed by the Home Office. The UK government has advised that delays are to be expected if submitting a visa application from a red list country.

British National Overseas visa route is now officially open

The Hong Kong BNO (or British National Overseas) visa route is now officially open. The route is specially aimed at residents of Hong Kong who hold a British National Overseas passport. Importantly the visa allows its holders to live, work and study in the UK.
