Commercial Litigation Lawyer

Our Dispute Resolution team, has an excellent reputation, known for the high quality of its work, its technical expertise and its commercial approach. The Dispute Resolution team at Clarkslegal is recognised by the legal directories, Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, as a leader in its field.

The continued growth in new instructions and new clients has created the need to add another Commercial Litigation solicitor, ideally with some property litigation experience, to join our highly regarded team.

We are looking for someone with commercial and property litigation experience and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on a broad variety of disputes. The role is based in our Reading office, with the opportunity for hybrid working.

Job Summary 

  • Very broad range of commercial dispute resolution work
  • Clients ranging from individuals to large corporate
  • Working with own matters and as part of a team on larger cases
  • Encouraged to develop interests and specialisms in areas of work and industries
  • Promoting the services and reputation of the team and firm

The role will also involve supporting the Dispute Resolution Department’s wider business development strategies and interests, further details of which will be discussed at interview.

Key Skills

  • Have demonstrable practical experience of commercial and property litigation work and be willing to undertake a broad range of work
  • Strong technical and academic capability
  • Understanding and working knowledge of litigation processes and procedures
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and independently, including the ability to supervise and manage junior lawyers
  • Be willing and able to build strong and long-term relationships with clients and introducers
  • Have an interest in and enthusiasm for business development
  • Have good time management and personal organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge 

  • Must hold or be entitled to hold a valid Law Society Practising Certificate
  • IT literate – adept in the use of Word/Outlook /iManage or similar
  • Consistently excellent academics – at least A/B’s in 3 A ‘levels; 1st/2:1 degree or equivalent
