Senior Employment Solicitor

An opportunity has arisen for an additional senior solicitor to support and add to our expertise. The role is hybrid, with office working from our Reading Office.
Role Summary
- Join our existing employment team in Thames Tower opposite Reading station.
- Will have day to day conduct of a varied workload of contentious and non-contentious matters for both Claimants and Respondents. Key responsibilities will include giving advice (by telephone, in person and/or in writing), drafting documentation (including claim and response forms, witness statements and legal submissions) and conducting negotiations on behalf of the client, advocating in tribunal, advising on or working as part of a team regarding restructuring, TUPE transfers and/or other client projects to include project management. Be able to support helpline queries for clients in a timely manner on a wide range of employment law issues, from contracts and policies (including drafting), disciplinaries and grievances, data protection. Responsibilities will also include timely and efficient billing of files.
- Previous tribunal and advocacy experience advantageous, Employment tribunal claims we handle tend to be complex dealing with issues of protected disclosure, discrimination and equal pay. We have indepth sector experience so a requirement to be genuinely curious about clients’ business, developing expertise both technically and commercially.
- Will support the firm’s online HR resource, employmentbuddy.com.
- This is a role with progression pathway. Will participate in and contribute to the team’s know how initiatives.
- Assist in complex strategic projects including restructures, change of terms employee engagement and industrial relations. Some previous experience desirable.
- Will support the business development initiatives of the firm and the team, which may include supporting internal events, supporting and/or attending external events and attending appropriate networking events out of office working hours.
- The team are multi-disciplinary, and we also operate a Tech Hub and a HR consultancy.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
- Min 2:1 or equivalent/ A/B grades A ‘levels
- Consistently good academic record
- IT literate – working knowledge of Word/Outlook/TFB or equivalent
- Able to demonstrate strong technical capability and research skills
- Have demonstrable practical experience of employment law
- Have a natural interest in and strong enthusiasm for business development
- Have excellent time management and personal organisational skills and will not be phased by having to work under pressure
- Have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must hold a valid Law Society Practising Certificate
