Novation and Assignment: Sisters, Not Twins

There’s often, understandably, a bit of uncertainty about whether (and how) a party to a contract can “assign” (transfer) its rights, or pass on its obligations, under that contract, to another person.Essentially, novation and assignment are both mechanisms to get around this restriction. Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) – A guide for commercial buildings

A snapshot of the Sex Discrimination Law Review

The Fawcett Society recently published its analysis of the efficacy of sex discrimination law in the UK (“the Report”). Whilst acknowledging the efforts made in this area to date, the Report goes on to identify a number of areas in which significant reform is still required. We identify the points likely to be of most interest to employers below.

“Clarkslegal’s overall level of service is outstanding and far better than that of any other law firm I have had experience with. Monica Atwal is part of our HR team and I trust and rely on her 100%. That says it all”.

Tracey Hirst – Group HR Manager, Jardine Motors Group

“We are very pleased with the support and advice received from on the recent acquisition by BMW Group UK.  With clear, concise and timely advice and management, Ashan and his team helped us navigate through some complex arrangements and seamlessly bridged the gap between the legal and commercial issues”

Amit Kotecha, Senior Legal Counsel – BMW Legal Affairs UK & Ireland
