Clarkslegal is a founding member of TAGLaw, a worldwide alliance of prominent, high-quality law firms. Through TAGLaw and our relationships with other foreign law firms, our clients are assured of getting advice outside of the UK from trusted, reliable professionals.
Founded in 1998, TAGLaw now has more than 150 member firms in over 80 countries. Members are carefully chosen based on their reputation and record, and on recommendations from existing members. Applicants undergo a rigorous screening process prior to invitation to the alliance, and are ultimately reviewed and approved by the TAGLaw Advisory Board.
Examples of our work with fellow TAGLaw members:
- Clarkslegal worked together with Lindquist & Vennum on the successful resolution of a complex and high value pension claim brought by a former managing director, resident in the UK, against a company listed in the US. Advice from both sides of the Atlantic was critical to achieving the client’s objectives, and this is an excellent example of TAGLaw working at its best.
- Clarkslegal was instructed by a multi-national mobile telecommunications company in relation to the appointment of a new CEO.We drafted and negotiated the UK employment contract, which included restrictive covenants. However, as the individual would be heavily involved with overseas group companies, and was a foreign national, we advised the company to take advice from lawyers in the jurisdictions of relevant group companies in relation to the enforceability of the restrictive covenants. The Company agreed to instruct us to obtain advice on its behalf through TAGLaw. We obtained cost estimates from at least two TAGLaw firms in each jurisdiction, coordinated the instructions and received and disseminated the advice to the client.
- Clarkslegal LLP recently assisted one of Lindquist & Vennum’s US clients looking to set up a distribution network, including countries in the EU. Clarkslegal advised on various issues relating to distribution and competition law matters to assist the US Company’s distribution strategy.
- We received a referral from the Dutch law firm Nysingh in respect of its client, a listed Dutch company that was due to make a significant acquisition in the UK.Nysingh instructed our corporate department on the basis of the good cooperation and understanding of the expertise that had been built up between our firms over the years, through the TAGLaw alliance. The transaction was completed in a tight timescale, and is an example of a good working relationship built between two members, allowing excellent service to be provided to the client.
